  • We are a passionate team of legal professionals with one simple goal: to help prospective solicitors confirm their Qualifying Work Experience (“QWE”) for the purposes of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (“SQE”).

  • The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) is the centralised assessment for anyone wishing to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority's Statement of Solicitor Competence sets out what solicitors need to be able to do to perform their role effectively. Candidates are tested against this by the SQE.

  • All candidates looking to qualify as solicitors through the SQE route are required to complete two years' full-time (or equivalent) QWE.

The candidate must evidence competency in certain areas of real life legal work, and their competency must be signed off by a solicitor.

This can be difficult if the candidate does not have access to a solicitor who can sign off their work.

Our goal is to provide support for those candidates.

  • No. We are not a law firm nor are we affiliated with a specific firm. However, we are a team of passionate professionals from different areas of the legal industry including independent solicitors.

  • We understand that candidates and organisations may need to share sensitive professional, employment, and business information as part of the QWE review process. We are dedicated to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism, and where we process and store personal information we do so in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation. Access to information is limited to those involved in the provision and review of the relevant services, including any reviewing solicitor where appropriate.

All information provided to Blackwater is handled securely and retained only for so long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes of the engagement, regulatory compliance, and record keeping.
